The numbers which appear on our Internet site reflect the most current totals reported to the Secretary of State; any updates which we receive from the counties will be posted there as well. However, these figures are the semi-official canvass totals. County elections officials are required by law to begin their official canvasses no later than the Thursday following the election and have 28 days to complete that process. There are several hundred thousand absentee, provisional and damaged ballots statewide which were not counted on election night and are not reflected in the totals posted. Nothing will be official and final until we get the certified canvass of votes from the 58 county elections officials. This is to be completed by the counties by December 3 and is due to be sent to this office and compiled into the final Statement of Vote by December 14.
We are currently scheduled to update the web site twice a day - at 7:30am and 4:30pm. However, the counties are not obligated to send us their updates on a daily basis. Therefore, you may hear results reported through the media that are not reflected here on our web site.
